“Forensic Imagination: What Images Know”
Susan Schuppli (Ph.D. Goldsmiths 2009) is deputy director of the Centre for Research Architecture at Goldsmiths, University of London, where previously she was a senior research fellow and project coordinator on the European Research Council project “Forensic Architecture”, hosted within the Department of Visual Cultures. Dr. Schuppli is an accomplished artist and has presented her work in over thirty exhibitions all over Europe and North America. Her film “Can the Sun Lie?” was recently shown at the 10th Shanghai Biennale (2014–15). In both her art and her research, she is interested in issues at the crossroads of art, politics, law, and the media, with a special focus on political violence and its representations. She has published numerous book chapters as well as articles in journals such as Cosmos & History, Memory Studies, and Photoworks. Her book Material Witness: Forensic Media and the Production of Evidence is forthcoming with the MIT Press.
